Each week I share with you solutions to common challenges that each of you face that are preventing you from reaching your health and wellness goals.
I thought today I’d share with you a couple of my own challenges.
I’ve heard many times over the years that it must be easy for me to stay in shape because I own my own gym.
That could not be farther from the truth.
Monday through Friday I’m in the gym by 6 am and don’t leave till 6:30 pm many days.
My two biggest challenges are getting enough sleep and staying consistent in my workouts.
Sleep has been something I’ve battled with for a while.
My alarm goes off at 5 am every morning and many times my internal alarm decides to wake me up at 4 am.
If only I could find out where my internal snooze button is located:).
I’ve made a lot of changes to help my body get more sleep at night.
I used to do work on my laptop after I put my kids to bed at night and that would keep me up.
Now when I come home from the gym, the laptop doesn’t come out of my bag unless it’s an emergency.
This helps my brain transition from work mode to family life and be full present.
I’ve noticed that I fall asleep much easier and earlier now as a result!
Staying consistent in my workouts has also been a challenge.
Now to be fair, I do have to walk a whopping 5 feet from my desk to the gym:).
My days are usually jam packed from when I arrive at the gym until I leave.
I would find myself not having the time during the day to workout like how I wanted.
This left me being inconsistent in my workouts.
So I had to adapt and make a change.
I left Fridays and Saturdays open to workout how I like and then M-Thurs. doing 10 min. workouts.
The 10 min. workouts allow me to be consistent and keep my body moving!
I will set a timer for 10 minutes and pick 2 movements and perform as many rounds as possible.
Even though that’s not a perfect workout, it’s ideal for my schedule and this season of life.
Consistency always beats perfection!
No matter what your fitness challenges are, if you focus on consistency, have gratitude, and never give up
you will reach your goals every time!
