Did you know that 70% of people in the US hate their jobs?
That’s actually better than the 85% worldwide statistic!
HOLY COW!
So, basically, there’s a good chance that YOU hate your job.
Yikes!
If so many people hate their job than why do they do it?
I’m sure the knee-jerk reaction is something along the lines of, “to pay the bills.”
Many people also don’t think they can pursue their passion either because:
- They think there’s no money in it.FALSE.There’s pretty much money in anything these days.
- They think they can’t afford to quit their current job to pursue the career they want.FALSE.You don’t have to just up and quit your job. These days you can start as a “side-hustle” you do for 30-60 minutes a day for months/years until it pays enough to do full time.
But, I’m not here to give anyone career advice.;-b
I just hate that so many people are so unhappy.
I do want to go back to the “working the job to pay the bills” thing though…
Have you ever stopped to notice that people (maybe even you; I’ve been there, too) work a job they hate to afford things they really don’t want/need to try to feel better about themselves in their crappy situation and/or to impress people that they don’t even like?
That was a mouthful. You may want to read that again.
Here’s an example I often see…
A lot of people associate cars with status.
Now, I’m not talking about the TRUE car enthusiast.
I’m talking about the person who drives a new Lexus instead of a used Toyota because of the impression the Lexus gives off to others (and themselves).
Then, because of their “expensive taste” (aka, need for validation), they have to work a job they hate to be able to afford the car…
Don’t get me wrong; I’m not hating on Lexus (or any luxury car) or the people who drive them.
We could be talking about designer clothes, the latest smartphone, or anything.
And, if you can afford all the luxuries AND love your job AND truly be happy…AWESOME!
The point is, what actually makes YOU happy?
I’m guessing wearing a fancy suit, sitting in traffic in a luxury car to go to a job you hate all day so you can come home to a big house that you can’t really enjoy filled with family you’re too tired and stressed out to meaningfully engage with is NOT the dream…
As an aside, being a fitness professional, I get super-frustrated when people say they can’t “afford” to invest in their health yet they live the above scenario.
I wonder what the world would be like if people chose to do what truly makes them happy on the INSIDE all day long (or at least most of the time) instead of worrying about other people’s opinions and relying on outside things (material possessions) to temporarily and artificially fulfill them…
74% of our population probably wouldn’t be overweight.
70% of our population probably wouldn’t hate their jobs.
55% of our population probably wouldn’t be on prescription medications.
Fascinating, right?
I’d love to know your thoughts on this.
I’d also love to know what you would do for a living if it’s not what you’re doing now.
Hit reply and share.:-)
By the way, while I do have my frustrating days, I can say that I’m ultimately doing what I love to do – helping people transform their lives with fitness!
I’d also love to know your thoughts on what else I can do to help you become the BEST version of YOU!
